Summary

A legislative file on which Member State is responsible for examining international-protection applications of unaccompanied minors. The amendments make the best interests of the child a primary consideration, generally assign responsibility to the Member State where the minor is present and has applied, require informing minors of their right to apply in a child-sensitive way, address risks of multiple applications and trafficking, and provide a remedy against transfer decisions.
