Methodology & sources

"Amendments tabled" counts every amendment where the MEP is among the listed authors. Most committee amendments are co-signed (2-11 MEPs), so an amendment is counted for each co-author. Plenary amendments (tabled by political groups) are excluded. Counts cover the 6th to 10th parliamentary terms (committee amendments machine-readable from 2008 onward). Source: Parltrack (committee amendments, attributed and dated) + the European Parliament's open data and official documents.

  • “Amendments tabled” = the MEP is among the listed authors of a committee amendment. Most are co-signed by 2–11 MEPs; each co-author is counted.
  • Solo amendments are those the MEP tabled alone — usually on procedures where they are rapporteur.
  • Plenary amendments are excluded — they are tabled by political groups, not attributed to individuals.
  • Procedure totals count distinct amendments on that procedure (a co-signed amendment is one amendment, even though it counts for each of its authors).
  • Coverage: 2008 → ~July 2026 · 5 terms · Jan–Jul 2026 tail from EP official documents. The bulk dataset (Parltrack) stopped updating in early February 2026; the February–July 2026 tail is extracted directly from the Parliament’s official amendment documents and flagged wherever it contributes. Amendments tabled after the stated window are not included.

The 6th term is partially covered: machine-readable, MEP-attributed committee amendments begin in 2008. A Member who served several terms appears once, with a per-term career breakdown on their page.

Why two-thirds co-signed?

Committee amendments are usually tabled by several MEPs together. We attribute an amendment to every listed author — the same convention used by Parltrack, journalists and NGOs. This means the sum of per-Member counts (2,586,798) is larger than the number of distinct amendments (1,259,320).
