Detergents: use of phosphates and other phosphorous compounds
This procedure concerns detergents and the use of phosphates and other phosphorous compounds. The amendments debate limiting or banning phosphates in household laundry detergents to reduce eutrophication, the role of alternatives such as phosphonates and their effect on the aquatic environment, whether to extend limitations to automatic dishwasher and industrial detergents, deferred application to let operators including small and medium-sized enterprises reformulate, delegated acts adapting the Annexes, the HELCOM Baltic Sea Action Plan and Directive 2000/60/EC on water policy, labelling on sustainable use, and Commission reports and possible legislative proposals by set dates.
