Summary

This own-initiative report concerns the impact of illegal fishing on food security and the role of the European Union. Amendments stress the EU's role as a major importer against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing under the IUU Regulation, link IUU fishing to forced labour, trafficking and threats to food security and coastal communities, raise the red and yellow card system and China's operations, and reference Sustainable Development Goal 14.
