Summary

This own-initiative report sets out an EU strategy to reduce methane emissions. Amendments characterise methane as a major contributor to climate change, address emissions from the energy sector, oil and gas, coal mines, agriculture and waste, cite IPCC, UNEP and International Energy Agency findings on reduction pathways, and call for binding reduction targets, monitoring (MRV), and measures including a phase-out of fossil gas.
