Summary

A legislative-initiative proposal for a Council Regulation on the election of members of the European Parliament by direct universal suffrage, repealing the earlier Council Decision and annexed Act. The amendments redefine actors such as political party, political movement, electoral association, political alliance, European political party, European political movement and European electoral coalition, with references to registration thresholds across Member States and the Union-wide constituency.
