This own-initiative dossier addresses technical and operational measures for more efficient and cleaner maritime transport. The amendments emphasise oceans as climate regulators and sources of food security and biodiversity, cite projected CO2, black carbon and methane emissions from shipping, reference the IMO, MARPOL and the Paris Agreement, and address air and water pollution, ports, short sea shipping, and balancing economic, environmental and employment objectives.
