An implementation report on Regulation (EC) No 1/2005 on the protection of animals during transport within and outside the EU. The amendments criticise poor enforcement by competent authorities and cite persistent problems such as overcrowding, insufficient headroom, lack of rest, food and water, long-distance transport of unweaned calves and exports to third countries; they call on the Commission to revise the regulation in line with scientific knowledge.
