Summary
An own-initiative report on fisheries aspects within an international agreement on marine biodiversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. Amendments address conservation and sustainable use of marine biodiversity on the high seas, ecologically and biologically significant areas and marine protected areas, the impact of fishing alongside other activities, climate change and pollution, gaps in the existing legal framework, and commitments at Rio+20.
