Return management: cooperation with third countries, effective implementation of agreements and the practical implementation of the Return Directive

Own-initiative report on return management, cooperation with third countries and implementation of the Return Directive. Amendments invoke the Lampedusa tragedy, call for facilitating access to protection for those fleeing war and persecution, assisted voluntary return and reintegration programmes, an independent monitoring system for migrants' rights, readmission agreements and non-removal to torture, rules on unaccompanied minors, and policy coherence for development under Article 208 of the Lisbon Treaty.
