Summary

Amendment of the European Parliament's Rules of Procedure, Rule 7, on the waiver and defence of parliamentary immunity. Amendments state that parliamentary immunity is a guarantee of Parliament's independence rather than a Member's personal privilege, set out how requests for waiver or defence of immunity are assessed under the Protocol on the Privileges and Immunities of the European Union, provide for the Member concerned to be heard and represented, and allow review of decisions where circumstances have materially altered.
