Summary
An own-initiative report on how to avoid food wastage and strategies for a more efficient food chain in the EU. The amendments quantify food losses across production, processing, retail and consumption, cite avoidable household waste and confusion over product dates, link food production to CO2 emissions and resource use, and call for food-waste reduction targets, waste prevention programmes and redistribution schemes involving the hospitality sector, schools, hospitals and retailers.
