Subjects: Fisheries policy
Rapporteur (the Member appointed to lead Parliament's work on this text): ATTWOOLL Elspeth (ALDE)
Summary
This own-initiative report concerns governance within the Common Fisheries Policy and the role of the European Parliament, the Regional Advisory Councils (RACs) and other actors. Amendments criticise restricted RAC funding, the absence of Commission representatives, and insufficient attention to RAC recommendations; they call for the Committee on Fisheries to take part in regional fisheries management organisations, the separation of political and technical decisions, and devolution of management to RACs.
