Better lawmaking 2006 pursuant to Article 9 of the Protocol on the application of the principles of subsidiarity and proportionality

This own-initiative report concerns better lawmaking 2006 under the Protocol on subsidiarity and proportionality. The amendments address improving the quality of legislation and reducing administrative and regulatory burdens, impact assessments and consultations, the principles of subsidiarity and proportionality, 'gold-plating' in transposition by Member States, self-regulation and co-regulation, sunset clauses, and the role of national parliaments.
