Summary
The dossier amends the Schengen Borders Code concerning the use of the Visa Information System (VIS) at the external borders. Amendments address thorough entry checks verifying the identity of the visa holder and the authenticity of the visa by consulting the VIS, and a derogation allowing border guards, by decision of the border guard in command, to consult the VIS on a non-systematic basis when waiting times become excessive.
