Summary

This own-initiative report concerns implementing trade policy through efficient import and export rules and procedures. The amendments address simplifying and modernising customs rules and procedures, the burden on SMEs, tariff classification, origin and valuation of goods, and the shift of customs towards security, anti-counterfeiting and consumer protection. They discuss WTO trade-facilitation negotiations, rules of origin under the GSP and ACP economic partnership agreements, the WCO and the US container-scanning requirement.
