An EU cardiovascular diseases strategy
This own-initiative report sets out Parliament's position on an EU cardiovascular diseases strategy; as an own-initiative report it is not itself law and is not binding. It was handled by the Public Health committee. The tabled amendments address prevention and early detection of cardiovascular disease, links with diabetes and hypertension, immunisation and vaccine programmes, tobacco and nicotine products including e-cigarettes and pouches, alcohol and food labelling, sex-specific underdiagnosis in women, retention of medical personnel, community pharmacists, and data collection under health data frameworks. Several amendments frame prevention around individual responsibility and lifestyle factors, while others stress socio-economic and environmental determinants of cardiovascular health across and within Member States.
