Summary

Own-initiative report on the multiannual plan for the Baltic Sea and ways forward. The amendments revise paragraphs calling on the Council to set total allowable catches in line with maximum sustainable yield and the precautionary approach, addressing overestimation of stock size, precautionary buffers, multiannual quotas, emergency measures under the Common Fisheries Policy, consultation of fishers and scientists, and cormorant management, while integrating socio-economic considerations.
