A European Strategy for Hydrogen

2020/2242(INI)·9th term·ENVI / ITRE·INI - Own-initiative procedure·CompletedProcedure completed
Rapporteur (the Member appointed to lead Parliament's work on this text): GEIER Jens (S&D)
Summary

The dossier sets out a European strategy for hydrogen. Amendments discuss hydrogen as an energy carrier to decarbonise sectors such as steel, heavy industry, aviation and shipping in line with the Paris Agreement and climate neutrality; debate renewable, green, low-carbon and clean hydrogen definitions; note its energy- and resource-intensive production, potential job creation and revenue, and concerns over NOx emissions and the need to scale up renewables.

80 roll-call votes

In plenary, Parliament usually votes in steps: first on amendments to the text (sometimes split into parts, so Members can accept one half of a sentence and reject the other), then on the text as a whole. The “main vote” is the one that adopts or rejects the text itself. Each vote below shows exactly which step it was. How voting works →
