Summary

This resolution concerns a strategic approach to pharmaceuticals in the environment. The amendments revise citations and recitals invoking the polluter-pays and precautionary principles, the European Green Deal, antimicrobial resistance, the REACH Regulation and an OECD study on pharmaceutical residues in freshwater, and noting the rising concentrations of pharmaceuticals and active substances in soils, sediments and waterbodies, including in human and veterinary medicines.
