Rapporteur (the Member appointed to lead Parliament's work on this text): BENIFEI Brando (S&D)
Summary
This own-initiative report addresses the post-Arab Spring way forward for the MENA region. Amendments revise the recitals on the 2011 uprisings against authoritarian regimes, youth unemployment and democratic aspirations, with competing wordings on human rights, freedom of expression, women's rights, child labour, armed conflict and groups such as ISIS/Da'esh, alongside references to EU neighbourhood, foreign and security policy instruments.
