Summary
A proposed regulation on cooperation between courts in the taking of evidence in civil or commercial matters. Amendments define 'court' broadly, mandate a decentralised IT system based on e-CODEX and managed by eu-LISA, promote videoconferencing for hearing witnesses, parties or experts in other Member States, address mutual recognition of digital evidence, taking of evidence by diplomatic or consular agents, qualified electronic seals and signatures, data protection under the Charter and Regulation (EU) 2016/679, and delegated acts.
