Possible evolutions and adjustments of the current institutional set up of the European Union
This own-initiative report sets out Parliament's position on possible evolutions and adjustments of the current institutional set-up of the European Union; as an own-initiative report it is not itself law and is not binding. It was handled by the Constitutional Affairs, Budgets, and Budgetary Control committees, in the areas of Treaty revision and institutions of the Union. The tabled amendments diverge sharply, some proposing annual reductions in the EU budget and a return to intergovernmental decision-making, others defending own resources, the multiannual financial framework, and reinforced parliamentary oversight of EU spending. They reference the Europe 2020 strategy, the European Semester, the six-pack and two-pack, and a single seat for the European Parliament. It shares Treaty revision subjects with related files including 'Proposals for the amendment of the Treaties'.
