Supply chain due diligence obligations for Union importers of tin, tantalum and tungsten, their ores, and gold originating from conflict-affected and high-risk areas
This file concerns supply chain due diligence obligations for Union importers of tin, tantalum, tungsten, their ores and gold originating from conflict-affected and high-risk areas, handled under the ordinary legislative procedure in which Parliament and the Council of the EU legislate jointly to produce binding EU law. It was examined by the Foreign Affairs, Development, and International Trade committees, in the areas of raw materials, trade control, peace preservation and development cooperation. The tabled amendments address mandatory due diligence along the whole supply chain, public reporting by importers, smelters and refiners as choke points, the OECD Due Diligence Guidance and the Kimberley Process, human rights abuses in extractive industries, and coherence with the Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace. It shares raw materials subjects with related sourcing files.
