Summary
This own-initiative report addresses endangered European languages and linguistic diversity in the European Union. Amendments invoke the Charter of Fundamental Rights, UNESCO's 2005 Convention and the Council of Europe's European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages, frame endangered languages as part of European cultural heritage, and stress that linguistic diversity supports social cohesion, fundamental rights and intercultural skills.
