A legislative proposal on Community-fleet capacity policy to promote inland waterway transport through modernisation and restructuring of EU fleets. Amendments address social and financial measures for workers leaving the industry, vocational training and retraining, early retirement, support for trade associations and social partners, adaptation of vessels to technical progress to improve working conditions, health and safety and environmental protection, and use of reserve funds and European Investment Bank instruments.
