Summary
This own-initiative report addresses the development aspects of intellectual property rights on genetic resources and their impact on poverty reduction in developing countries. Amendments address biopiracy, traditional knowledge, access and benefit sharing under the CBD and Nagoya Protocol, the role of WIPO, FAO and the ITPGR, links between genetic resources and pharmaceutical research and access to medicines, and the rights of indigenous and local communities and the Millennium Development Goals.
