Summary
An own-initiative report on an integrated European market for card, internet and mobile payments. The amendments address fragmentation across borders, the dominance of a few card payment providers, multilateral interchange fees, surcharges, the cost of cash and cheque payments, SEPA governance and the role of the Commission and ECB, common technical standards and interoperability of terminals, real-time clearing, and consumer protection and financial inclusion.
