Summary
This own-initiative report concerns recognising and promoting cross-border voluntary activities in the EU. The amendments stress volunteering's role in active citizenship, social cohesion and participative democracy, its contribution to fighting poverty and to economic and social cohesion, links to skills, mobility and active ageing, the principle that volunteering must not substitute for paid work, and tools such as the European Skills Passport and Europass.
