Rapporteur (the Member appointed to lead Parliament's work on this text): VOSS Axel (PPE)
Summary
This own-initiative report addresses a comprehensive approach to personal data protection in the EU. Amendments call on the Commission to weigh administrative burden, legal certainty, costs and the impact on SMEs and controllers, and to address data transfers to third countries, profiling and the 'right to be forgotten'. They debate 'privacy by design' and 'by default', certification schemes, self-regulation and enforcement through sanctions.
