Horizon 2020 framework programme for research and innovation 2014-2020

Horizon 2020, the framework programme for research and innovation 2014-2020, is an ordinary legislative procedure, meaning Parliament and the Council of the EU decide together and the result is binding EU law. It was handled by numerous committees including Industry, Research and Energy and Foreign Affairs, in the areas of the European research area, EU framework programmes and innovation. The tabled amendments seek to exclude defence and military research and cooperation with the EDA, require civil-only space and dual-use limits, add ethical and societal ex-ante impact assessments for security research, promote equal opportunities for men and women, and restrict human cloning and embryonic stem cell research.
