Common fisheries policy (CFP)

This dossier concerns the reform of the common fisheries policy (CFP). Under the ordinary legislative procedure, Parliament and the Council of the EU decide together and the result is binding EU law. It was handled by committees including Fisheries and Environment, Public Health and Food Safety under the fisheries policy subject. The tabled amendments address transferable fishing concessions, Sustainable Fisheries Agreements and new Sustainable Fisheries Cooperation Agreements with neighbouring and third countries, the precautionary approach, independent scientific data collection, human-rights conditions on agreements, and the well-being of coastal communities.
