Summary
An own-initiative report on European road safety 2011-2020. The amendments propose creating an EU Road Safety Coordinator by 2014, address motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians, lorry blind spots and light commercial vehicles, call for better implementation and enforcement of existing law, a modal shift toward public transport, walking and cycling, harmonised safety indicators, a 50% reduction target for pedestrian and cyclist deaths, and a 'Vision Zero' long-term strategy.
