Summary

This own-initiative report concerns revision of the General Product Safety Directive and market surveillance. Amendments call for a unified EU market-surveillance framework, stronger cooperation among national surveillance and customs authorities, product traceability and tracking labels, controls on products bought online from third countries, the RAPEX system, recall notices, child-appealing products, and resources and standardisation, noting distortions of competition affecting SMEs.
