Summary
An own-initiative report on the future of European standardisation. The amendments call for embedding WTO/TBT principles such as transparency, openness and impartiality in the legal framework, modernising ICT standardisation under the 98/34/EC Directive, eligibility criteria for standards bodies, the role of European Standards Organisations and National Standards Bodies, involvement of SMEs and public-interest organisations such as ANEC, ECOS, ETUI-REHS and NORMAPME, and financial sustainability of the standardisation system.
