Summary
The dossier concerns the long-term sustainability of public finances for a recovering economy. The amendments revise recitals on high deficit and debt levels, population ageing and rising welfare and healthcare spending, fiscal consolidation and the Stability and Growth Pact, the falling birth rate, government debt and interest payments, credit-rating agencies, cooperation between the Commission and the IMF, and demographic projections through 2060.
