Summary

This dossier concerns the authentication of euro coins and the handling of euro coins unfit for circulation. Amendments allow institutions and designated authorities to apply handling fees while not burdening private individuals, require authentication of returned coins by listed coin-processing machines or trained personnel, provide for annual on-the-spot controls, add fees for coins posing a health risk, and require Commission guidelines and a review.
