Summary
An own-initiative report on multilingualism as an asset for Europe. Amendments address linguistic and cultural diversity, language skills and freedom of movement, the parity of official languages and resistance to language discrimination, the role of EU institutions and interpretation and translation services, regional, minority and endangered languages, debates over a lingua franca or a common artificial language such as Esperanto, and a European Day of the Translator and Interpreter.
