Summary
Own-initiative report on relations between the EU and Russia. Amendments describe Russia as a strategic partner, UN Security Council member, major trading partner and energy supplier, weigh pragmatic cooperation against shared values of democracy, rule of law and human rights, address the Energy Charter Treaty and disruption of Russian gas supply, the conflict over South Ossetia and Abkhazia, the European Court of Human Rights and Chechnya, nuclear proliferation and terrorism.
