Summary

An own-initiative report on Community action in relation to whaling. The amendments support maintaining the IWC moratorium on commercial whaling and the ban on international trade in whale products, address special-permit and aboriginal subsistence whaling under IWC Scientific Committee quotas, marine protected areas, animal-welfare and humane-killing concerns, and threats such as bycatch, ship strikes, pollution and underwater noise.
