Rapporteur (the Member appointed to lead Parliament's work on this text): RASMUSSEN Poul Nyrup (PSE)
Summary
This own-initiative report concerns hedge funds and private equity. Amendments debate whether specific EU regulation exists or is justified, weigh the funds' role in providing liquidity, price discovery and market efficiency against concerns over financial stability, leverage, valuation of illiquid instruments and herding in times of market turmoil, and call for better supervisory cooperation, transparency and, in some versions, a voluntary code of conduct.
