Rapporteur (the Member appointed to lead Parliament's work on this text): COSTA Paolo (ALDE)
Summary
Legislative dossier on the liability of carriers of passengers by sea in the event of accidents. Amendments extend comparable liability protection to passengers of inland waterways carriers given that the Athens Convention applies only to international transport by sea, set the regulation's scope for ships operating part of their journey by inland waterways, and allow Member States to apply it to inland waterway carriage and to defer that application.
